The idea of bringing together two of the world's great religions - Islam and Christianity on one site, is a unique gesture of tolerance, acceptance, and striving to find common ground - and the architectural manifestation of these ideals is important.

The large volumes of the Mosque and Church are in dialogue with each other at the center of the site.

Aerial View

The Mosque has an inner cube oriented to the Qibla within a perforated hemispherical dome on the exterior.

The Church uses the same volumes, but here the dome is in the interior, while the cube is perforated and seen from the exterior.

View towards the Mosque

The Mosque's domes is a perforated metal in an Islamic pattern, covered in gold leaf. The Church's cube is a perforated metal with a 'cross' pattern, covered in silver leaf.

The secular components - as in the Park and Visitor Centre, which are in the public realm, are placed so that people traversing the site engage with them, crossing on the footbridges.

Ancillary programs occupy the poché of thick 'walls', which are off sunken courtyards and mark the threshold of the site.
