The Manikyavelu mansion is a heritage structure standing strong for over a century. Located within the central business district of Bangalore city, at Vasant Nagar, the mansion is embedded deep within a 3.5-acre property filled with lush verdant vegetation.

Currently, the mansion is part of the National Gallery of Modern Arts (NGMA) with contemporary extensions injected on its either flanks as a means to cater to the demands of the public gallery.
This project began as an aspiration to reimagine the heritage interface with an alternate architectural reality as an academic institution focused on the research and proliferation of data related to the humanities.

Therefore, the institute is visioned as a series of introverted architectural volumes as a means to dampen the cacophonous bustling energy of the surrounding urban fabric and create a serene yet academic milieu conducive for its associated patrons to flourish.
